Company Description

To lead in collaborative, science-driven solutions that improve water quality, restore ecosystems, and build a sustainable future through innovation and investment in mitigation banking.

Job Details

You will play an integral role in supporting and expanding our water resources and ecological design practice by producing high-quality plans and 3-dimensional grading models that bring restoration and stormwater projects to life. Working closely with our engineers, landscape architects, and scientists, you will translate conceptual designs, survey data, and GIS information into accurate and visually clear construction drawings. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented draftsperson who enjoys working on a diverse range of natural resource and site-based projects—such as stream restorations, wetland mitigation banks, stormwater retrofits, and green infrastructure improvements. You will have the flexibility to work part-time or on a project-based schedule, with opportunities for professional growth as our drafting and design capabilities continue to expand

Qualifications

Required qualifications: • Associate’s degree or technical certificate in civil drafting, engineering technology, or a related field. • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience preparing civil or environmental project plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surface modeling, grading design, and plan production. • Demonstrated ability to generate three-dimensional grading and surface models using Civil 3D tools (feature lines, corridors, grading objects, surfaces, and profiles). • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, topographic survey data, and design specifications. • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to produce accurate and consistent plan sets that meet regulatory and client standards. • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, landscape architects, and environmental scientists to translate conceptual designs into construction-ready drawings. Preferred Qualifications: • Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, including the ability to import/export data (contours, shapefiles, alignments, survey points) between GIS and CAD environments. • Experience preparing grading, erosion control, utility, and stormwater management plans for natural resource or water resources projects. • Working knowledge of MnDOT CADD standards, local watershed district plan requirements, or similar design standards. • Familiarity with 3D visualization tools, quantity takeoffs, and earthwork balancing workflows within Civil 3D. • Understanding of hydrologic, hydraulic, or environmental data used to support plan development (e.g., contours, soils, wetland boundaries, flow paths). • Interest in ecological restoration, green infrastructure, and sustainable design applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine 3D grading and surface models for stream restoration, wetland creation, stormwater management, and site improvement projects. • Prepare detailed plan and profile sheets, cross-sections, and construction details using AutoCAD Civil 3D. • Integrate GIS data (e.g., survey points, wetland boundaries, watersheds, aerial basemaps) into CAD environments using ArcGIS Pro. • Generate base maps, design layouts, and exhibits for reports, permitting, and construction documentation. • Assist project engineers and scientists in translating conceptual sketches and field data into accurate plan sets. • Coordinate drawing revisions, file organization, and data consistency across multidisciplinary project teams. • Ensure adherence to company drafting standards, layer conventions, and QA/QC protocols. • Support field data collection, construction staking, and as-built updates as needed. • Contribute to workflow improvements between GIS, CAD, and project management systems.

Company Purpose

To lead in collaborative, science-driven solutions that improve water quality, restore ecosystems, and build a sustainable future through innovation and investment in mitigation banking.
